Job Summary
The Accounting Officer is a member of the Shared Services team and is responsible for supporting the accurate and timely recording, processing, reconciliation, and reporting of financial transactions across the organization.
The role supports the day-to-day accounting function, maintains appropriate financial records and controls, and assists with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting in accordance with company requirements.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
- Compile and provide accurate payroll information to the Senior Accountant for monthly payroll processing.
- Prepare salary and other payroll-related payments for review and approval.
- Maintain complete and organized payroll records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with payroll-related reconciliations and queries as required.
Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable
- Support the management of the Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) functions.
- Prepare and issue customer invoices accurately and on a timely basis.
- Record supplier bills and ensure appropriate supporting documentation and approvals are in place.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and payables and assist with follow-up as required.
- Assist with the preparation and processing of supplier and other approved payments.
Accounting & Reconciliations
- Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations and promptly investigate outstanding or unusual items.
- Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure transactions are correctly classified and recorded.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close procedures.
- Maintain relevant balance sheet schedules and account reconciliations.
Cash & Expense Management
- Manage petty cash and maintain appropriate supporting records.
- Review and process staff expense claims in accordance with company policies.
- Ensure expenditure is appropriately authorized, documented, and recorded.
Financial Reporting
- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports in the agreed formats.
- Prepare supporting schedules, analyses, and reconciliations required for management and Board reporting.
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting support as requested.
Budgeting, Tax & Compliance
- Assist with the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget.
- Support the preparation of tax returns, GCT filings, and other statutory submissions.
- Maintain appropriate supporting schedules and documentation for regulatory and tax reporting.
Audit Support
- Assist Senior Accountant with preparation of schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for the annual external audit.
- Liaise with external auditors, under the direction of the Head of Shared Services and/or Senior Accountant, to respond to information requests and resolve queries.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- Progress toward a recognized professional accounting qualification, such as ACCA Level 2 or equivalent, is preferred.
- Previous audit experience preferred.
- Minimum of three years’ relevant accounting or finance experience.
- Practical experience with Jamaican payroll processes and statutory requirements.
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger accounting.
- A strong interest in business, accounting, and financial management.
This is a hybrid role, based in Kingston, Jamaica.
